Individual Treatment

Whatever your reason for entering our door, you’ll find a welcoming, judgement-free environment.

SALTIE uses various therapeutic approaches, tailored uniquely to you. We use techniques within an evidence based framework. Our focus is on your goals for your life.

New to therapy?

Therapy is a professional partnership that helps you gain greater understanding of yourself. Both the content and process of therapy is important to successful outcomes. We’ll work with you to create a safe psychological platform for exploring your issues. Some people undertake treatment for a short period of time. Others choose to engage in therapy for many years. Others elect episodic care for periods in their life that require support.

Before your initial consultation, our Clinic Coordinators will liaise with you to collect some details, including your mental health care plan or referral if you have one. Fees and rebates will be explained to you also. We will also seek your Consent for treatment by providing you with information to read. We also have a Plain Language consent form if you prefer. Your practitioner will also discuss consent with you in your initial appointment, and throughout treatment as appropriate.

Our practitioners are experienced in counselling people through problems like:

Anxiety
Characterised by fear, anxiety includes conditions such as phobias, OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder), panic attacks and separation anxiety.

Depression
Feels like an all-consuming sadness over which you have no control. It may strike at moments of intense grief (relationship end), great happiness (new baby) or any time in between.

Eating Disorders
Usually involves concern over body image that leads to behaviour with negative health results. Anorexia and Bulimia are typical examples.

Trauma and Abuse
Includes abuse in all its forms, such as neglect, domestic violence, sexual abuse and other adverse events. These experiences can be recent or historical. Trauma relates to being exposed to situations of extreme stress in which one’s core safety feels under threat.

Disability Support
Providing services aimed at assisting people to learn skills in order to deal positively with life experiences and situations.

Drug and Alcohol Dependency
Some people encounter multiple and complex needs that require a practised therapist. That is often the case with addiction and substance abuse.

Sleep Disorders
Insomnia, nighttime restlessness, and poor sleep quality can be stand alone problems or can be linked to other conditions.

Life Dissatisfaction
Not feeling quite right about life and the elements that comprise it.

Wellness Optimization
Not all therapy is about recovery from mental distress. Some SALTIE clients use therapy to optimize a specific area of strength. This is very common for elite sports people, high academic achievers, corporate executives, and performance artists. If this is you, you might also be interested in Performance.
